Following the removal of floor price restrictions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), nearly 80% of stocks, mutual funds, and corporate debt instruments attracted buyers. This led to a significant increase in DSE turnover, exceeding Tk1,000 crore after six months, almost double the turnover from the previous session.
All indices closed higher, recovering from early losses. The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) withdrew floor price restrictions for all but 35 stocks, contributing to the market’s return to its natural state, according to DSE Brokers Association President Saiful Islam. The DSEX closed 0.22% higher at 6,254, with a stronger demand for selective stocks. The market capitalization declined by 1.86%, over Tk14,000 crore, since floor withdrawal, totaling Tk7.73 lakh crore. Despite the decline, the market’s strength lies in the attractiveness of lucrative prices, which attract investors.
