The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) inspection team recently discovered that two more companies, Dulamia Cotton Spinning Mills and Regent Textiles Mills, have been closed for an extended period. This discovery follows the earlier identification of the Northern Jute Manufacturing Company as another closed entity. DSE investigators visited the locations of these companies to assess their operational status but were unable to enter the factory premises for inspection. It is suspected that these factories have remained closed for years.
The DSE had previously identified 42 companies for inspection due to their failure to meet various regulatory obligations. In the first phase, the DSE is inspecting 14 of these companies to provide investors with a clear understanding of their current situation. The DSE has also downgraded some companies to the Z category due to non-compliance.
Dulamia Cotton Spinning Mills has been experiencing losses for more than a decade and has failed to declare dividends for over 10 years. Regent Textiles Mills suffered losses for more than two years and has not declared dividends since 2021. Both companies have seen their stock prices stagnate.
