In FY2023-24, Dhaka Stock Exchange’s (DSE) revenue contribution to the government declined by 11.85%, amounting to Tk 243.86 crore compared to Tk 276.66 crore in FY2022-23. Tax revenue from TREC holders’ commission dropped to Tk 153 crore from Tk 192.5 crore, while revenue from share sales rose to Tk 90.6 crore from Tk 84 crore. DSE’s average daily turnover fell by 21.57% to Tk 621 crore, down from Tk 792 crore. The DSEX index closed at 5,328.40 points, a 16.01% decrease from the previous fiscal year’s 6,344.09 points, attributed to global economic uncertainties and domestic macroeconomic challenges. Despite regulatory efforts, market instability persists, with investor confidence shaken by ongoing declines and regulatory interventions.
