Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed a significant downturn as the key index, DSEX, dropped below the 6,000 mark, hitting a 34-month low of 5,974 points. This decline, amounting to 32.8 points, reflected the subdued sentiment prevailing among investors, who remained apprehensive about the market outlook. Trading activities remained sluggish, with market turnover decreasing by 14.2% to Tk 483 crore compared to the previous session’s Tk 563 crore.
The last time DSEX reached this level was on May 25, 2021, when it stood at 5,884 points. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also experienced a decline of 7.27 points to finish at 2,056.57, while the Shariah-based Index, DSES, dropped 9.08 points to close at 1,300.82.
