The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a third consecutive day of decline , with the DSEX index falling by 11.8 points to close at 5,323. Major contributors to the drop included losses from BRAC Bank, Square Pharma, and Islami Bank. BRAC Bank alone accounted for a 10-point decrease, while combined losses from Square Pharma, Islami Bank, and BAT Bangladesh added another 22.4 points.
Market activity remained sluggish, with total turnover down 3% to Tk 355 crore. Among 400 traded stocks, 142 advanced, 195 declined, and 63 were unchanged. The banking sector led turnover at 28.9%, followed by pharmaceuticals at 16.5% and food at 9.7%. BRAC Bank topped the turnover list with Tk 34.87 crore. Most sectors recorded negative returns, particularly general and life insurance, while Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag rose 9.96%, and Tosrifa Industries fell 8.33%.
