Dhaka stocks halted a two-day winning streak as investors exercised caution, closely monitoring market dynamics amidst ongoing subdued sentiment. The benchmark DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plummeted by 68 points to settle at 5,761, while the blue-chip DS30 index dipped by 13 points to close at 2,007 on 1st April. With significant selling pressure prevailing, 315 stocks saw declines, while only 47 advanced, with 35 remaining unchanged. Despite the cautious atmosphere, the turnover at the premier bourse slightly increased to Tk468 crore compared to the previous session. Investors reverted to selling mode after a brief respite, reflecting wavering confidence across the trading floor. The market observed a downward trend throughout the session as investors refrained from taking new positions, opting instead to observe market momentum amid the prolonged subdued sentiment.
