E-Return Registrations Exceed 1.6 Million For 2024-25

Economic Tag: Vat & Tax

Over 1 million income tax returns have been filed online for the 2024-25 assessment year, with over 1.6 million registrations for e-Return submission, the NBR reported. Taxpayers can file returns, download receipts, tax certificates, and TIN certificates via the NBR website. Payments are accepted through internet banking, debit/credit cards, and mobile banking.

The e-Return registration process has been simplified, requiring a biometric SIM linked to the taxpayer’s national ID. Taxpayers can verify their SIM registration by dialing *16001#. Special provisions are available for those unable to register due to biometric issues. The NBR offers 24/7 support and encourages taxpayers to file returns by January 31, 2025.
