Eastern Bank Limited has undergone a name change and is now known as ‘Eastern Bank PLC,’ as officially declared by Bangladesh Bank’s Banking Regulations and Policy Department (BRPD) through a circular.

This change in the bank’s name became effective on September 3, 2023, and it was made under the authority vested in Bangladesh Bank by section 37 (2) (c) of the Bangladesh Bank Order 1972. The central bank has communicated this alteration to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh.
