Mohammad Raihanul Islam, The CEO of Ecospear is determined to introduce eco-friendly polybags as an alternative to traditional polythene bags in Bangladesh. Despite being the only company with a biodegradable testing certificate from the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), he faces challenges in obtaining government clearance to introduce these bags to the domestic market. The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) lacks a testing facility to provide the necessary certificate, hindering his efforts.
Nevertheless, Ecospear has already exported its biodegradable and compostable bags to the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The CEO believes that BSTI will recognize the importance of eco-friendly bags and grant clearance, which would significantly reduce environmental impacts. In addition to biodegradable bags, Ecospear has developed a vaccinated plastic called Fastix, which breaks down within two years without causing toxicity. The CEO is committed to saving future generations from the plastic pandemic and urges others to join their venture.
