ekShop won UN Game Changers Award

EkShop, an initiative by Aspire to Innovate (a2i), has been awarded the United Nations ‘SDG Digital GameChangers Award’ in the ‘Game Changer for Prosperity’ category. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recognized ekShop for its contribution to bringing e-commerce services to underserved areas of Bangladesh.

The initiative’s e-commerce model aims to empower small and medium-sized businesses, refugees, and individuals facing digital disparities, especially in the least-developed countries. The award ceremony was held on September 16 at the UN Headquarters in New York during the UN’s dedicated SDG Action Weekend. a2i’s policy advisor, head of commercial strategy, and program associate accepted the award.

The SDG Digital Game Changers Award acknowledges individuals and organizations that leverage digital solutions to advance progress toward global goals. ekShop is a rural-focused e-commerce platform that facilitates the delivery of essential products to people’s homes. Over 12,000 rural artisans sell products through the platform, which has delivered over 8 million products across the country via cash-on-delivery. It welcomes participation from e-commerce organizations, entrepreneurs, the Post & Telecommunication Division, and government entrepreneurial institutions.
