Bangladesh’s electricity imports from India have nearly doubled, with $1.075 billion spent on power in fiscal year 2022-23, largely from Adani’s Godda Thermal Power Station. Diesel and cotton were also significant imports. In response to recent political unrest in Bangladesh, India amended its power export rules to allow domestic sales from the Godda plant if Bangladesh delays payments. Despite this, Adani Power has confirmed its commitment to continue supplying electricity to Bangladesh.
