Emirates Launches Online Payment Services in BD

Emirates Airlines has introduced an easy and convenient online payment option, enabling customers in Bangladesh to complete their booking transactions seamlessly. With this new feature, customers can now use locally issued debit and credit cards to make secure online payments on the Emirates website.

The introduction of this online payment solution is part of Emirates’ commitment to providing exceptional value and enhancing the customer experience throughout the booking process. By offering this additional payment method, Emirates aims to elevate the online customer journey and provide 24/7 convenience for travelers in Bangladesh. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of digitizing various sectors and contributing to the development of a Smart Bangladesh.

Emirates currently operates 21 weekly flights from Dhaka, including connections via Dubai to over 130 destinations across six continents. Notably, Emirates is the sole airline offering First Class service from Dhaka, further enhancing the travel experience for passengers in the region.

Chattogram Port Goods Transport Drops 20% Amid Protests

The transportation of goods to and from Chattogram port decreased by 20% on July 16 due to nationwide roadblocks and protests for quota reform in government jobs. Traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and within the port city caused delays for vehicles carrying goods. Normally, around 6,000 vehicles enter Chattogram Port daily, but this number has reduced to about 5,000.

Maersk Introduces New Ocean Service to Enhance BD-China Trade

In answer to the rising need for business, the Danish shipping company Maersk has launched a new shipping service, called SH3, Between China and Bangladesh. By offering more space, flexibility, and effectiveness for the transportation of goods—particularly textiles and clothing—the new route improves the offerings of the current ones. Bangladeshi manufacturing and Chinese exporters are anticipated to gain from this action.

NBR Approves CPA’s Proposal to Relocate Import Cargo Operations

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has authorized the proposal of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to relocate import cargo handling and delivery operations outside of the Chattogram port yard. Failure to Procure Ships and Boats Costs Mongla Port Authority Tk 1.69B

The Mongla Port Authority's project to procure three ships and two boats has faced significant delays and cost overruns. Initially approved in December 2019 with a budget of Tk 7.67 billion and a completion deadline of June 2022, the project remains incomplete. The port authority has requested an additional year and a 22.07% budget increase, bringing the total to Tk 9.36 billion.
