The European Union (EU) has granted EUR 60.125 million (approximately Tk 760.58 crore) to support Bangladesh’s education system as part of a larger budget support operation worth EUR 245 million. This funding aims to enhance primary education, technical and vocational education, and training (TVET) in line with Bangladesh’s 2010 National Education Policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The EU’s decision follows Bangladesh’s successful implementation of key educational reforms. The grant emphasizes the importance of education in combating poverty, inequality, and fostering societal peace. EU Ambassador to Bangladesh highlighted the need for continuous investment in education for future development.
The partnership focuses on improving quality education, increasing trained teachers, and ensuring universal enrollment, particularly for marginalized groups. Bangladesh, with NGO support, has also managed to reintegrate around 800,000 out-of-school children.
