Exim Bank reported a 9% drop in its consolidated profit for 2023 compared to the previous year. According to the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) disclosure, the bank’s consolidated earnings per share stood at Tk2.33 in 2023, down from Tk2.57 in 2022. The bank attributed the profit decline primarily to an increase in provisions for investments.
Despite the lower profitability, Exim Bank declared a 10% cash dividend for its shareholders for the year 2023, subject to approval at the annual general meeting scheduled for June 24. The record date for the dividend has been set for May 26.
In a separate development, Exim Bank had earlier decided in March to merge with Padma Bank, which was considered at risk as a going concern, potentially impacting its financial performance and operations.
