Bangladesh’s merchandise export earnings rose 16.23% to US$4.14 billion in November 2024, up from US$3.56 billion last year, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data. For the first five months of FY 2024-25, total exports grew 11.88% to US$19.92 billion. The growth was driven by the readymade garment (RMG) sector, with steady rises in shipments since July. However, exporters face challenges due to low buyer prices amid rising production costs. While current growth is positive, concerns remain about sustainability without improvements in law and order, energy supply, and banking support.
