Exports to South Korea have surged nearly threefold over the past five years, reaching a decade-high of $624 million in FY23, marking an 18% increase year-on-year. In the first half of the current FY 2023-24, exports continued to grow, rising by 7% to over $330 million. This uptick comes as Bangladesh seeks to diversify its export destinations away from traditional markets like Europe and North America. South Korea’s provision of duty-free and quota-free entry for most Bangladeshi products since January has been a significant driver of this growth. With incentives and market exploration efforts, industry leaders anticipate further expansion in 2024, recognizing South Korea’s potential as a lucrative market for apparel and potentially other product categories like sportswear.
