The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has signed an agreement with the Economic Relations Division (ERD) to provide technical and financial assistance in three new projects for agriculture and environmental development. Over the years, FAO has supported 400 projects in Bangladesh. The new projects aim to improve two crop sub-sectors with oversight from the Ministry of Agriculture and address harmful gas emissions from the livestock sector with guidance from the Ministry of Livestock. The projects align with Bangladesh’s eighth five-year plan and sustainable development objectives, focusing on increasing agricultural production, nutrition, environmental conservation, and improving livelihoods. FAO’s assistance in various projects emphasizes the significance of crop, fishery, livestock, environmental, and related developments. The organization plays a crucial role in implementing modern agricultural practices and effective management on an international level.
