The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and Sara Bangla Krishak Society (SBKS) launched the ACCESS project in Dhaka, aiming to strengthen rural livelihoods for 25,000 smallholder farmers in climate hotspots. Representatives from various sectors, including government, private, and development partners, attended the event.
The Agriculture Secretary emphasized the need for innovative, inclusive business models like ACCESS to address climate change challenges. FAO highlighted the project’s focus on agribusiness clusters and support for smallholders to transform subsistence farms into successful businesses. Discussion panel participants explored potential support from their respective organizations. The Bangladesh Krishi Bank Chairman highlighted the project’s initiative to provide agricultural credit to small farmers and emphasized the need for agricultural insurance policies.
