Md Fariduddin Ahmed has been appointed as chairman and independent director of Union Bank by Bangladesh Bank. With a long career in Islamic banking, Ahmed began at Sonali Bank in 1977 and later joined Islami Bank Bangladesh before moving to EXIM Bank, where he served as managing director and CEO. He has also worked with Exim Bank, Meghna Bank, and contributed to establishing Jaiz Bank in Nigeria. Ahmed is recognized for his significant contributions to Islamic banking in Bangladesh and holds awards such as the Nawab Sir Salimullah Gold Medal and the Central Shariah Board Award for Islamic banking.
