M Fazlur Rahman has been appointed as the chairman of Janata Bank PLC for a three-year term, effective from his joining date, as per the Financial Institutions Division’s August 28 notification. Rahman brings extensive experience from both government service and the banking sector. He previously served as chairman of Agrani Bank (2003-2006) and held various senior government roles, including secretary positions in multiple ministries from 1996 to 2003.
Rahman also has an academic background in physics from the University of Dhaka and an MPA from Harvard University. His leadership roles extend beyond banking, with involvement in the Bangladesh Scouts and the Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital.
