The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has formally appealed to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for a one-month extension on the deadline for income tax returns. The FBCCI highlighted challenges faced by taxpayers, including the delayed release of income tax circulars aligned with the new Income Tax Act and the upcoming national elections. With the current deadline set for 30 November, FBCCI’s request aims to provide more time for preparation amid unique circumstances. The Dhaka Taxes Bar Association has also previously written to the NBR seeking an extension. If approved, the new deadline would be 31 December 2023, offering relief to taxpayers.
