Expatriate remittances in Bangladesh surged after August’s political change, with September remittances hitting $2.4 billion—an 80% increase year-on-year. Exports also rose to $3.86 billion, a 16% rise. While the exchange rate has stabilized, prices for essentials like chicken and vegetables remain high, straining consumers. The previous dollar crisis has eased, although the dollar is still priced above 120 Taka due to outstanding bills. Total reserves improved to $25.96 billion as of August 4, 2023.
