Four members of Bangladesh’s Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) are set to resign following a directive from the interim government, marking another significant shift since the recent change in administration. The members—Quamrul Hasan (life insurance), Md Nazrul Islam (non-life insurance), Md Dalil Uddin (law), and Biswajit Bhattacharya Khokon (administration)—will attend a farewell ceremony tomorrow, according to an IDRA official. Their departure comes shortly after IDRA Chairman Mohammad Jainul Bari resigned in September, citing personal reasons. The recent wave of resignations reflects the interim government’s policy of phasing out contractual appointments made under the previous Awami League government, which was ousted on August 5 amid a student-led movement. An IDRA official confirmed that FID Secretary Nazma Mobarek relayed the resignation instructions, as similar changes are being implemented across various agencies. Khokon was appointed this year, while others were reappointed within the past two years.
