Bangladesh is experiencing a severe shortage of natural gas, affecting households and industries, and leading to low gas pressure at CNG filling stations. This shortage is expected to worsen as the renovation of Excelerate Energy’s floating terminal, which supplies LNG, begins on November 1, 2023, and will last for two months. Petrobangla, the national oil and gas corporation, warns that gas supply from the floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) will be suspended during this period. Increasing gas demand for power generation and industrial use has compounded the problem, particularly affecting households. Concerns are growing about the impact on industries and factories, which are struggling to maintain production due to the ongoing gas crisis.
