The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) has announced a new record price for gold, with a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold ornaments to be sold at over Tk 1.09 lakh, up from the existing price of Tk 1.08 lakh. This decision comes in response to the continuous surge in pure gold prices, as noted by the standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of Bajus.
The move follows a trend of rising gold prices, with the precious metal surpassing the Tk 100,000 mark for the first time in Bangladesh in July 2023. The adjustment reflects the current market dynamics and underscores the challenges posed by the increasing cost of gold.
