The government has set a revenue collection target of Tk5,41,000 crore for the fiscal year 2024-2025, aiming to achieve 9.7% of the GDP. Tk4,80,000 crore is proposed to be collected through the National Board of Revenue (NBR), with an additional Tk61,000 crore from other sources. The budget aligns with key national development goals, focusing on areas like inflation control, employment generation, infrastructure development, and healthcare. To enhance revenue mobilization, technological advancements and procedural reforms are being implemented, including the introduction of the A-challan system and the gradual adoption of electronic fiscal devices. Additionally, efforts to rationalize tax exemptions and increase non-tax revenue collection are underway, aiming for sustainable revenue growth in the short and medium terms.
