The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to procure essential commodities at subsidized rates to ensure affordability for the public. In a recent government procurement committee, the approval was granted for the purchase of lentils, soybean oil, and rice bran or mustard oil from Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries, City Edible Oils, and Majumdar Bran Oil Mills, respectively.
The procurement, under an open tender method for the fiscal year 2023-24, involves 6,000 metric tons of lentils at Tk 66.58 crore, priced at Tk 110.97 per kilogram. Additionally, 8 million liters of soybean oil will be procured at Tk 125.10 crore, costing Tk 156.38 per liter, and 4 million liters of rice bran or mustard oil at Tk 62.50 crore, with a price of Tk 156.25 per liter. The total expenditure for 25 approved proposals is Tk 14,455 crore 65 lakh, with the government contributing Tk 13,953 crore 43 lakh, and the remaining Tk 502 crore 22 lakh sourced from domestic banks and foreign financing.
