The Bangladesh government has approved the import of 100,000 tonnes of white rice from Vietnam under a government-to-government agreement. Vietnam Southern Food Corporation will supply the rice at $474.25 per tonne. The purchase aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s food reserves amid growing demand and fluctuating production. The deal reflects the country’s strategy to diversify its rice import sources. Additionally, the cabinet committee approved the sale of essential commodities through the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh’s trucks in Dhaka and Chattogram to ensure better distribution.
