The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP), led by Finance Minister , approved multiple proposals during a virtual meeting. One of the significant approvals involves the import of 115,000 tonnes (MTs) of fertilizer.
The Ministry of Industries submitted the proposals, outlining the purchase of 60,000 MTs of fertilizer. The imports include 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Saudi Arabia-based SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company, facilitated by a state-level agreement. Additionally, another 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea will be imported from UAE-based Fertiglobe Distribution Limited.
On the Agriculture Minister’s recommendations, the Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) will procure 25,000 MTs of TSP fertilizer from GCT in Tunisia. Furthermore, BADC will import 30,000 MTs of MOP fertilizer from JSC Foreign Economic Corporation ‘Prodintorg’ in Russia, also under a state-level agreement.
