The government of Bangladesh has approved the procurement of 67.20 lakh MMBtu (Metric Million British Thermal Units) of LNG to address the increasing demand for energy. The procurement proposals were passed during the 22nd meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP). Petrobangla, under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, will procure the LNG from M/S Gunvor Singapore Pte Ltd Singapore.
The total cost for the LNG procurement is estimated to be around Tk 1,152.83 crore. This move reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a stable and sufficient energy supply in the country. Bangladesh continues to explore LNG as a key component of its energy mix to meet the growing energy demands of its industries, businesses, and households. The procurement of LNG is expected to contribute to the country’s energy security and support its economic growth.
