The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase in Bangladesh approved 13 procurement proposals, including the import of fertilizers, lentils, and edible oil in 2023. These proposals aim to address various agricultural and food-related needs in the country.
The Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) is set to import 60,000 metric tons of fertilizer. Half of this, 30,000 MT, will be bulk granular urea from SABIC Agrinutrients Company in Saudi Arabia, while the other 30,000 MT of bagged granular urea will come from the Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company in Bangladesh. Additionally, the Agriculture Development Corporation plans to import 100,000 MT of different types of fertilizer.
The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will purchase 18,500 MT of lentils, with 6,000 MT sourced locally through open tender and 12,500 MT imported directly from international suppliers. TCB will also import 5 million liters of soybean oil through open tender.
