The interim government of Bangladesh has approved the purchase of 33,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Singapore-based MS Gunvor Singapore Pte for Tk 657 crore, priced at $13.93 per million British thermal unit. This follows two previous LNG consignments purchased earlier this month. Additionally, the government will buy 10,000 tonnes of lentils at Tk 96 per kg, 60,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser at $343 and $356 per tonne, and 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertiliser from Morocco at $415 per tonne. Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed emphasized that inflation is a complex issue and urged the public to remain patient as the government works to stabilize prices, despite challenges with middlemen in the market.
