The Ministry of Finance has approved Tk637.80 crore to support the families of those martyred in the July uprising and to ensure medical treatment for injured protesters. Disbursements will begin on 10 January 2025, though the full amount will not be available immediately; a portion will be provided now and the rest after June from the next fiscal year’s budget. Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan and ICT Adviser Md Nahid Islam have expressed dissatisfaction over delays in fund disbursement. The October advisory council meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, promised Tk30 lakh per martyr’s family. The letter to Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed detailed the financial needs for 826 martyred individuals’ families and 15,000 injured individuals. A draft list of martyrs and injured from the protests includes 858 martyrs and 11,551 injured individuals.
