The Bangladesh government is prioritizing fertilizer imports, approving 1.5 lakh tonnes to prepare for the Boro paddy season, bringing total approvals to 7.6 lakh tonnes since August. With FY24 fertilizer use at 57.7 lakh tonnes, the current fiscal year target is 52 lakh tonnes, including 20 lakh tonnes of urea. Recent deals include DAP imports from China, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, and urea from Saudi Arabia. Additionally, 55 lakh liters of soybean oil imports were approved. The interim government is also focused on recovering laundered money, with officials attending WB and IMF meetings to address the issue.
