The Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and Aspire to Innovate (A2I) have signed a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote smart agriculture in Bangladesh. The agreement aims to establish standards, frameworks, and policies to enhance the agricultural sector’s development. A2I will serve as a catalyst, supporting the ministries in implementing smart solutions for agriculture, including information standardization, technological innovation, capacity building for farmers, and the use of smart agricultural equipment. The collaboration aligns with the goal of building a Smart Bangladesh by creating a comprehensive smart agricultural system.
During the signing ceremony, officials highlighted the importance of leveraging digital innovations and artificial intelligence (AI) technology to drive agricultural advancements. They emphasized the need for inter-ministerial and private sector collaboration and the exchange of information to facilitate sector growth. A2I, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), will play a crucial role in implementing the smart agriculture system and providing necessary support.
