Bangladesh is set to sign three agreements with Excelerate Energy Bangladesh to enhance LNG imports and regasification. The deals include a Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) for importing up to 1 million tonnes of LNG per year for 15 years starting in 2026.
Excelerate Energy will supply 0.85 million tonnes of LNG from 2026 to 2027 and 1 million tonnes from 2028 to 2040. Bangladesh will purchase LNG at about 13.35% of the three-month average Brent crude oil prices plus $0.30 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), the highest rate among previously signed deals. The agreements also involve expanding the Moheshkhali Floating LNG terminal and constructing a floating storage and regasification unit near Payra seaport.
