The government has mandated that all public employees submit their asset declarations to enhance accountability and combat corruption. According to a notice from the Ministry of Public Administration, every government employee must declare their immovable and movable assets upon joining service and provide updates on any changes every five years. However, compliance with these regulations has been inconsistent, prompting discussions on improving transparency. One proposal suggests that submitting a copy of the asset declaration with annual income tax returns to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) could replace the five-year requirement. The Ministry is considering amending the existing regulations to address these issues. Recently, it was also decided that all judicial officers and their family members must submit their domestic and international asset declarations within 10 working days, following consultations with the Supreme Court. The government aims to ensure stricter compliance and prevent corruption among public officials.
