The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources in Bangladesh has proposed a $1.16 billion project to revamp the leaky gas network in Dhaka and Narayanganj cities. The project aims to address safety concerns related to fire and earthquakes and is expected to be funded through foreign financing sources such as the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd will be responsible for implementing the project, which aims to reduce gas leakage, improve gas supply, and enhance public safety. The initiative involves relocating existing pipelines, ensuring uninterrupted gas supply, installing safety measures, and improving customer service. The project aligns with the government’s focus on efficient utilization of natural gas and ensuring the security of life and property.
