The government of Bangladesh will soon launch an open tender to drill 26 wells across various gas fields in a bid to boost domestic gas production and reduce reliance on imported LNG, according to Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan. He emphasized that contracts will not be awarded on a G-to-G basis or through unsolicited offers. Between 2025 and 2028, a total of 100 wells will be drilled, with state-owned Bapex handling 43 of them and the remaining 26 awarded through tenders. The offshore bidding round for international companies will conclude in December.
