The government plans to issue a tender in December to transport the newly discovered gas in Bhola to Dhaka, according to Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan. Businesses can bid to bring the gas to Dhaka as compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG). Although 70 MMCF of gas has been found in Bhola, a lack of pipelines has prevented its transport. This initiative aims to ease the gas shortage in industries. Additionally, Petrobangla Chairman Zanendra Nath Sarker announced an offshore bidding tender on December 9 and plans for an onshore gas exploration tender by March.
