The Bangladesh government is scrutinizing its expenditure plan, particularly administrative costs and subsidies, in the proposed 2024-25 national budget. Experts suggest further reducing expenditures by Tk 50,000 crore to limit government borrowing from the banking system to less than Tk 90,000 crore. This would free up resources for private investment and contribute to macroeconomic stability in FY25. Additionally, if the Bangladesh Bank refrains from excessive liquidity support to commercial banks and avoids printing money to finance the budget deficit, inflation is expected to decrease within six to nine months.
