The government has reduced duty rates on four daily commodities to maintain affordable prices. The National Board of Revenue issued a notification, reducing duties on oil, sugar, dates, and rice. Duty reductions include 68 paise per kg on sugar, Tk 5 to Tk 6 per kg on soybean oil, Tk 4.79 per kg on palm oil, and Tk 54 per kg on dates. VAT on soybean and palm oil at production stages has been withdrawn, reducing duty by Tk 7 to Tk 8 per kg. Notably, the duty reduction has facilitated the clearance of consignments at the Chittagong port. Despite this, market prices have not significantly changed, with traders anticipating gradual adjustments.
