The Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Adviser held a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador at the ICT Tower in Agargaon to discuss enhancing Bangladesh’s IT sector. The adviser requested Japan’s cooperation in training Bangladeshi youths, highlighting their potential in IT with the right skill development. The ambassador reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting ICT initiatives, particularly in training to boost expertise and create employment opportunities. Both sides emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations and explored cultural collaboration, with a proposal to establish a Japanese cultural center in Bangladesh.
Addressing past internet shutdowns, the adviser underscored its impact as a human rights violation and outlined plans for uninterrupted internet access via Starlink satellite services. The ambassador expressed optimism about supporting media freedom and countering misinformation about the July uprising, assuring Japan’s readiness to assist Bangladesh during this transitional period. High officials from both sides attended the meeting.
