Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged Ireland to support Bangladesh’s bid to extend Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) benefits in the EU market until 2032, rather than 2029, during its post-graduation period. She made the request during a meeting with a high-level Irish delegation led by Ireland’s Minister for Enterprise, Trade, and Employment, Simon Coveney, at Ganabhaban.
Highlighting Ireland’s friendship with Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina emphasized the country’s potential as a marketing hub for billions of consumers. She encouraged Irish businesses to invest in Bangladesh’s special economic zones and hi-tech parks, particularly in sectors like ICT, pharmaceuticals, and agro-based industries.
