The government is set to establish an 11-megawatt waste-to-energy power plant in Brahmanbaria, with each unit costing Tk 21.16. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) will oversee the project, and if electricity is purchased at the approved tariff rates, the government will pay approximately Tk 4,068 crore to the plant over 25 years.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase, led by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, approved the proposal. Additionally, the committee granted tariff approval for a 100-megawatt solar power plant in Sonagazi upazila of Feni, with a projected payment of Tk 3,566.4 crore over 20 years at a rate of Tk 11.0058 per kilowatt-hour.
