The government of Bangladesh is set to commence rice procurement for the Aman season, targeting 0.7 million tonnes of rice from millers and farmers nationwide. The Directorate General of Food has outlined the procurement goals, aiming for 0.2 million tonnes of paddy, 0.4 million tonnes of parboiled rice, and 0.1 million tonnes of white rice. The procurement period extends until February 28, with purchase prices fixed at Tk 30 per kg for Aman paddy, Tk 44 per kg for parboiled rice, and Tk 43 per kg for white rice. Parboiled rice mill owners are required to supply rice between November 23 and December 5,2023, with payments facilitated through their bank accounts.
