The interim government plans to reform the fertilizer subsidy programme, aiming to save Tk2,500-3,000 crore in the current fiscal year by streamlining subsidy distribution, said Agriculture Secretary Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian on 19 November. The government ensures a sufficient fertilizer supply to avoid shortages until January, with adequate stocks arriving for the Boro season. Efforts are also underway to improve fertilizer transportation and storage, aiming to eliminate wastage. In addition, the government is addressing concerns about potato prices, expecting a decrease in the next week, and ensuring a steady supply of seeds and fertilizer for potato cultivation.
