For Ramadan, the government has granted permission to import 4,600 metric tons of chickpeas and 3,400 metric tons of lentils from India through the Sonamsjid land port of Chapainawabganj. The information was provided by the deputy assistant anti-corruption officer of Sonamsjid land port. The imported chickpeas and lentils are allocated across 8 IPs, and importers will gradually bring in these products. The port manager mentioned that though the chickpeas and lentils have not arrived yet, the import permission has been granted, and they may arrive during Ramadan. Operations at the land port are reported as normal, with 200 to 250 Indian cargo trucks entering daily. However, there is currently no import of fruits.
