The government is set to finalize a Tk 935-million initiative to strengthen Bangladesh’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by upgrading university-level entrepreneurship education. Proposed by the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the “Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship (CREATIVE Bangladesh)” project will be jointly implemented by the University Grants Commission and Dhaka University by June 2027. The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will provide $7.5 million (Tk 825 million), covering 90% of the cost through grants, as per an MoU signed in January 2021.
The project will develop modern infrastructure, such as 3D and computer labs, renovate an auditorium, and create new entrepreneurship education programmes. Training, competitions, and research on entrepreneurship will be funded, including publishing 40 international articles and awarding 15 advanced academic scholarships. Tk 75.9 million is allocated for overseas training in Korea, while Tk 372.23 million will compensate Korean experts. Approval is expected on November 25, 2024.
