The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has approved critical measures to address food security for one crore disadvantaged households in Bangladesh. The sanctioned proposals involve the acquisition of 1.1 crore litres of refined soybean oil, priced at Tk141 crore and $1.16 per litre, from Green National Builders and Developers, India.
Additionally, 25,000 tonnes of lentils will be procured, with 10,000 tonnes sourced internationally at Tk97 crore (rate: $875 per tonne) and 15,000 tonnes obtained locally at Tk150 crore from B&C Corporation and Sena Kalyan Sanstha. This strategic initiative aims to stabilize essential food supplies and provide vital assistance to vulnerable communities grappling with economic challenges. The government’s commitment to ensuring food accessibility for the marginalized underscores its dedication to addressing pressing socio-economic needs.
